The Vasudeva V. Dempo Memorial, All Goa Inter H.S.S. Elocution Competition organized by Vasantrao Dempo Research Foundation and Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai was held at D.C.T.’s Vasantrao Dempo H.S.S. of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira – St. Cruz, Goa.
Being the death anniversary of former Chairman, Dempo Charities trust, Late. Shri. Vasudeva V. Dempo, the function began with rich tributes being paid by the Trustees, Mrs. Pallavi S. Dempo, Shri. Yatish V. Dempo, Mrs. Akshaya Y. Dempo, Shri. Rajesh Bhatikar, Administrator, Dempo Charities Trust, Principal, Staff and students. The esteemed guest on the occasion was Smt. Neela V. Dempo who lit the traditional lamp and offered floral tributes to pay homage to the memory of her husband Late. Shri. Vasudeva V. Dempo.
Around 21 Higher Secondary schools from all over Goa participated in the competition. The rolling trophy and prize of Rs. 11,000/- was bagged by Mast. Sherwyn Corriera, St Andrew’s H.S.S., Vasco who has won this competition for the second consecutive time. The second place, a cash prize of Rs, 7,500/- was bagged by Mast. Anis S. Sayani, Deepvihar H.S.S., Vasco. The third place, a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- was bagged by Mast. Sreekanth Sreenarayanan, People’s H.S.S., Panaji. Three contestants were awarded consolation prizes of Rs. 2500/- each which were bagged by Mast. Faiz Hanif Shaikh, Don Bosco H.S.S. Panaji, Miss. Saniya M. Pednekar, Mushtifund H.S.S. Cujira and Ms. Jessica De Souza, St. Xaviers H.S.S. Mapusa.
Other contestants were awarded participation certificates. Earlier the Administrator of Dempo Charities Trust, Shri. Rajesh Bhatikar gave the welcome address. Principal, Mrs. Rupa Khope enlightened the audience about the life and works of late Shri. Vasudeva V. Dempo.
The judges of the Elocution competition were Prof. Mrs. Clarinda Dias, Head of Department, Department of English, D.C.T.’s Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar, Mrs. Vandana Sardesai, Proprietor Vandana Delicacies and Ms. Vanaja Mulaliar, teacher, D.C.T.’s Vasantrao Dempo H.S.S. of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira – St Cruz, Goa.
Earlier, a welcome song was presented by the teachers of the institution. The function was compered by Mrs. Amelia Barreto and Mrs. Shubhada Bandodkar, teachers. A vote of thanks was proposed by teacher, Mrs. Lucia D’Souza.
