The Student’s Council of D.C.T’s Vasantrao Dempo Higher Secondary School Of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, was inaugurated at the hands of Principal Mrs Rupa S Prabhu Khope. Speaking on the occasion she called upon the students to show respect towards elders and teachers. She briefed the students about the importance of Guru Poornima and informed them that since the moon is the brightest on a full moon day, Gurus chose this day to pass on maximum knowledge. ThePrincipal also spoke about Vyasmuni‘s contribution towards inculcating important values in us through the Ramayan. The Principal also highlighted the role of Yantra, Mantra and Tantra in our lives.
The Oath of Office was administered to the office bearers of the Student’s Council by Mrs. Fransquinha Rodrigues, teacher. The Office bearers are as follows: Miss Sumaira Khan as the General Secretary, Miss Rhea Shaikh and Master Arkhit Patro as the Assistant General Secretaries, Miss Jostrin De Souza as the Cultural Secretary, Miss Gauri Nerurkarand, Master Leander Vaz as Assistant Cultural Secretaries, Master Samanth Honali as the Sports Secretary, Master Sanjit Dias as Assistant Sports Secretary while Miss Dipika Guptaand, Miss Prachi Dongrekar took oath as the Ladies Representative and Assistant Ladies Representative respectively.
Earlier homage and floral tributes were paid to Vyasmuni on the occasion of Guru Poornima. On the occasion, the YRC unit was also installed with Miss Pooja Amonkar as the Chairperson, Miss Vaishnavi Shejwal as Secretary, Master Albert Biju as Treasurer and Miss Sakshi Pandit, Master Shajid Mujawar and Master Sergio Da Costa as members. The Oath of Office was administered by Mrs. Amelia Barreto, teacher.
The Nature Club, Nandanvan, was also inaugurated on the occasion. Senior teacher, Mrs Sumedha Desai briefed about the workings of the Club. Teacher, Mrs Shubadha Bandodkar spoke about the activities of the Red Ribbon Club which was also inaugurated at the hands of Principal Mrs. Rupa S Prabhu Khope. Earlier a student, Miss Jostrin de Souza presented a konkani song. The function was compered by Mrs Maya Sardessai, teacher in charge of Students Council activities. The Vote of thanks was proposed by the General Secretary, Miss Sumaira Khan.
