Project Stars, is a TERI-Dempo partnership that works towards encouraging schools to practice the principles of sustainability by focusing on its environment and social-cultural performance. Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao was supported through this initiative in order to build a composting facility.
The facility was inaugurated by executive director, Dempo Industries Private Limited, Pallavi S Dempo who said: “It is time to be environment conscious and that can be proved by making it more greener, more cleaner and more safer.”
Addressing students at the event she said: “You (students) are our hope and strength. You are the guiding stars. When you throw light, people will follow.”
Speaking at the event principal, Vidya Vikas Academy, Allan Rodrigues said waste management has to be included in the school syllabus so as to educate students about recycling, re-using and segregating waste. He said each student has a role to play in making the environment clean with responsibly clearing waste.
