The National Science Day was celebrated at DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo Higher Secondary school of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Cujira, on 28 February 2022 with great pomp. It was celebrated to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect.
The function began by paying floral tribute to the portrait of Sir C.V Raman at the hands of Administrator of Dempo Charities Trust, Shri Rajesh Bhatikar, Principal Mrs. Surekha Kelkar, Vice-principal Ms. Minaxi Mudaliar, and other Science teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, The Principal stressed the theme for National Science Day 2022, as being ‘Integrated approach in Science and Technology for a sustainable future. She lauded the efforts of the teachers and the studentsin putting up such a wonderful programme.
Earlier, a Quiz Competition “Spectra 2022” was organized for the students. The objective of the quiz was to encourage students to popularize Science and technology. The winner of the competition was Team Gamma comprising of students, Harsh Sawant and Omkar Dhuri.
The first runner-up was team Alpha comprising of students, Sambhaji Patil and Parth Bhate. Both teams were given trophies while others were given Participation certificates. The Quiz Marker was teacher Ms. Pooja Kavlekar, while teacher, Shri Prashant Naik was the scorekeeper and teacher, Siddhi Naik provided technical support. A short video on the life of Dr. C. V Raman was also shown to the students. Teacher, Mrs. Prachi Alavani was the compere for the formal function. The program was coordinated by teacher, Mrs. Harsha T Nerurkar, HOD of the Physics Department, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
