MIPL has been awarded the contract for design, manufacture and supply of berthing & movement pontoons and gangways for P-75 Scorpene Submarines.
This highly critical and prestigious contract was signed on 05 July 2021 between MIPL and Director General Naval Projects (DGNP) Mumbai.
Twelve pontoons are being manufactured and will be delivered to Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and Naval Ship Repair Yard Karwar in 2022-23.
These pontoons will be used for the safe berthing and movement of the latest Indian Naval project for Scorpene Submarines of French design built by Mazgaon Docks Ltd.
The pontoons are designed with a special Fender system both above and underwater, to ensure no damage to the highly sensitive Hull of the submarines.
These are similar to the successful design, manufacture and supply of the Slave Docking Pontoon for the P-75 Scorpene Submarines along with 137 Nos Docking Blocks three sets.
Earlier in March 2021, MIPL has successfully delivered the slave pontoon. MIPL received a special certificate of appreciation for its successful construction and delivery.
