Vasantrao Dempo Education & Research Foundation, Goa, the social responsibility arm of the group presented an international celebrity concert, ‘Da Capo Sammelan’, at the Institute Menezes Braganza’s Main Hall, Panaji, on Saturday, the 5th November, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. The title of the highly well-received event is a Latin- Sanskrit coinage of ‘A Gathering from the Top.’
The concert featured artistes of global acclaim, soprano and daughter of Goa, Patricia Rozario, O. B. E., F. R. C. M., and Spanish clarinettist, conductor and teacher, Joan-Enric Lluna. They were accompanied on the piano by musician, broadcaster, writer, teacher, festival impresario and presenter, Mark Troop.
The artistes performed works by celebrated composers, Schubert, Spohr, Tavener, Romero, & Messager in an hour-long feast of romantic music for soprano, clarinet and piano. The highlight of the event was the immortal ‘Shepherd on a Rock’ by Schubert. Concert entry which was by invitation only, was attended by a large number of discerning lovers of western classical music, including consuls, writers, Goan musicians, writers, intellectuals and industrialists.
The concert which was preceded by high tea, was another reminder of the yeoman service being undertaken by the House of Dempo on enriching the Goan cultural discourse by bringing music and musicians of quality to Goa.
