The Department of Economics and Business Studies of D.C.T.’s Vasantrao Dempo H.S.S. of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira – St. Cruz, Goa organized a two days In – Service training for Grade I teachers in Economics and Business Studies under the Super School Complex in the Audio Visual room of the Institution.
The Chief Guest for the inauguration of the training programme was Shri. Rajesh Bhatikar, Administrator of Dempo Charities Trust. The Guest of Honor was Mrs. Radhika Nayak, Principal of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira – St. Cruz, Goa. The two days In Service training was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp at the hands of the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Shri. Rajesh Bhatikar said that the transition in education is a continuous process, so it is mandatory for teachers to regularly update themselves with the changing trends and curriculum in their subject. He spoke about focus being laid on the skill development and that curriculum should be relevant to times. He also spoke about inter disciplinary learning which is emerging in India.
The guest of honour, Mr Nayak opined that change is constant in the world, so one needs to ensure that what teachers teach should make a difference in the society. She further added that the quality of life is empowered when knowledge is applied to real lives. On the first day the resource person was Dilip Sahakari, an Investment consultant who spoke on the topic ‘Cashless transaction and Digi lockers‘.
Shri. Manjunath R., Manager of Corporation Bank and Gaurav Kenkre, Chartered Accountant who spoke on the topics ‘E – Banking under Modern concepts of Banking’ and ‘Goods and Service Tax‘ (GST) respectively.
On the second day, the resource person, Prof. Dr. Shankar Narayan, Professor at Zantye College of Commerce and Economics, Bicholim gave a presentation on the topic ‘Financial Management and Capital structure and New trends in marketing and channels of distribution‘. The second resource person was Prof. Dr. Edwin Cortez, Head of Department of Economics, DCT’s of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar – Goa, who spoke on the topic ‘Mathematical approach in Economics‘.
Dr. Radhika Nayak, Principal of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nayak urged the teachers to make lectures innovative and interesting thereby improving the quality of teaching. The participation certificates were distributed at the hands of the Chief guest. Mrs. Aparna Morya, Teacher, proposed a vote of thanks, while Mrs. Edna Da Costa, Teacher was the compere.
