Dempo SC’s Halicharan Narzary won Assam’s ‘Best Sportsperson award’ for the year 2015
The NorthEast lad was presented the award during the 19th Assam Sports and Cultural Festival held in January in Assam.
Holicharan played for FC Goa in ISL season one and was drafted to NorthEast United in the second season.
“It’s is a great feeling to win this award and it won’t be my last. Will work hard to win more of such awards and more importantly to get Dempo SC back into the I-League,”said the Dempo SC winger.
Despite suffering an indifferent year with the club, the 21-year-old has been a regular name in the national squad in recent times and also has been integral part of Mauricio Afonso’s plans at The Golden Eagles ever since the Goan Maestro took over the club as the head coach.
Holicharan’s impressive wing play and his ability to play up fornt has forced Lee Johnson call-up the NorthEast player to be the part of India U-23 provisional 28-member squad for the South Asian Games to be held from February 6.
