A full-day competition cum exhibition was organised for students and teachers from the project schools on 8th July 2011 at Dempo House, Panjim, Goa.
Target and objectives:
This event was organised at an inter-school level so as to promote and encourage co learning amongst students. Various competitions were organised for students from class 5 to 10.

Entries for the poster and model competition were brought to the venue to be exhibited, while the PowerPoint competition was organised on the day.
Programme summary:
Almost 250 participants from the project schools attended the programme. There were 210 students and 40 teachers.
Mr. Rajiv Kulkarni (Asst Manager, V S Dempo & Co. Pvt. Ltd) started the day’s proceedings by warmly welcoming the gathering. Ms. Pallavi Dempo (Executive Director, Dempo Industries Pvt Ltd) then delivered the special address for the day and encouraged the schools to participate whole-heartedly in the forthcoming activities of the project. Ms. Shabana Kazi (Research Associate, TERI) then provided a brief update on the project status.
The group PowerPoint competition followed next. There were almost 22 teams that presented their slides based on a few driving questions.
The Judges panel comprised Mr. Rajiv Kulkarni (Asst Manager, V S Dempo & Co. Pvt. Ltd) and Ms. Ashwini Pai Panandiker (Research Associate, TERI). TERI films were screened for the participants while the judges evaluated the exhibits. Ms. Aditi Pathak (Research Associate, TERI) also briefed the audience regarding TERI’s other projects such as Green Olympiad & TERRAQUIZ 2011 and Project BEACON that is being implemented across India.
Students from class 7 participated in the creative writing contest on the theme ‘My Goa…My Environment’. Stories were screened in advance and students narrated their stories to the audience. This was then followed by the prize distribution ceremony. Ms. Pallavi Dempo, Executive Director, Dempo Industries Pvt Ltd. gave away the prizes.
Ms. Pallavi Dempo (Executive Director, Dempo Industries Pvt Ltd) thanked everyone for participating in the programme and wished the students the very best in future. Ms. Shabana Kazi (Research Associate, TERI) finally concluded the day’s event with the vote of thanks.
